The relationship between Plasan and AeroSpheres

Armored Vehicles
Plasan

Plasan is a leader in providing safe vehicle environments and survivability solutions for security and defense forces all across the globe. High-end protection is offered, allowing for mission readiness and even lower operational costs. The company’s products have been tried and tested in real combat situations.

Some of its current solutions for vehicle protections include the likes of advanced kitted armor hulls, SandCat, and the Guarder armored tactical vehicles, as well as a wide selection of different personal protection and survivability solutions.

With more than thirty years’ worth of experience, Aerosphere is delighted to work with such an esteemed company as Plasan. This article will detail the origins of the partnership and the exciting innovations and improvements that have spawned as a result of this relationship

How did the relationship begin?

AeroSpheres and Plasan started working together for the first time about 25 years ago. At that time, Plasan was mainly focusing on the manufacturing of protective gear (vests and the likes).

The entry point for the relationship between the two companies was the Kevlar fabrics and supportive materials that AeroSpheres was able to offer to Plasan as a result of an exclusive partnership with Airtech. Plasan was able to use these materials as part of different types of products within the security and defense space.

As time went on, the relationship between AeroSpheres and Plasan developed. AeroSpheres was able to help Plasan create kits that would help to add further protection to the likes of army vehicles. As part of the kits, AeroSpheres was supplying certain auxiliary materials that were necessary as part of the manufacturing process of creating these kits.

These types of materials are still required today by Plasan and they include sealant tape, bagging film, and some other sealant types of tapes. Before the two companies worked together on this front, Plasan had to utilize materials that would not be as well-fitting.

Evolving over the years

As time went on, the relationship between the two companies evolved and grew stronger. Plasan was seeing great success with its various solutions and it was growing massively. It had expanded its presence across the world, working on significant projects in the United States. This included creating armored vehicles for use in the Army, Air Force, Coast Guard, and Navy.

AeroSpheres was able to support Plasan during this major project, supplying materials needed to meet the urgent demand without compromising at all on the strictest of standards. This was ultimately successful and both companies were able to complete every project they worked together on in the best way possible.

Plasan and AeroSpheres have built a strong relationship over the years, allowing for the completion of emergency projects where tight deadlines were in place.

Leveraging knowledge and experience

For a long time, the main focus for AeroSpheres was on the aviation sector. Starting in 1990, it began rapidly expanding its offering across the aviation sector, meeting all sorts of specific requirements in a timely manner.

To date, many worldwide airlines and maintenance outlets rely on the logistical infrastructure from AeroSpheres, as well as the ability to find and supply even the most complex of materials at short notice. The level of service given is same-day or next-day.

As a result of its experience in the aviation sector, it was soon realized that many of the auxiliary materials could also be used to great effect for defense and security applications. AeroSpheres was very innovative and fast off the mark in this regard, allowing for the striking up of a powerful partnership with Plasan before others could spot the opportunity.

Benefits of composite materials

The use of composite materials has led to a lot of great benefits for aviation and defense purposes. These materials have a lot of benefits when compared with some of the more traditional types of raw materials. As the name suggests, composite materials are made up of multiple different materials. The sum of the structure is meant to be greater than the components in their individual forms.

A real application of using composite materials is that they can help to significantly reduce weight without compromising on strength. Therefore, fuel consumption will be lower, allowing vehicles to stay active for longer without having to refuel or decreasing the overall load on the carrier.

Composite materials that AeroSpheres supplies can also provide a lot more flexibility to designers and engineers. This is because these materials often offer better strength components than many traditionally used materials, including tensile, shear, and compressive strength.

Tensile strength is the level of stress that a material is able to handle before it will crack, break, or deform in some way. Shear strength showcases how effectively a material is able to resist strain when there is a sliding or shifting of layers. Finally, compressive strength shows the level of performance of a material if it gets flattened or compressed through applied pressure.

One-stop-shop

Plasan has a ton of different in-house capabilities which allows the team to deliver the high-end protection solutions that they are known for. This includes the design process where the ideal materials for a project are discussed, costs, and delivery times are all considered.

The engineering team is made up of many specialists in arms and weapons systems, as well as ergonomics, and other disciplines. This team helps harness the latest innovations to help produce highly advanced survivability and armored solutions.

Full-scale prototypes can then be built and they will undergo different forms of blast and ballistic testing. There will be extensive simulations of different scenarios to ensure that everything performs as planned. Finally, production can also take place in-house, meaning that Plasan is a one-stop-shop for a client’s needs.

A great relationship

As you can see, the relationship between Plasan and AeroSpheres is a strong one. As the supplier of many key materials, AeroSpheres aids Plasan in manufacturing end products that are of a very high-quality, while still being delivered in a timely fashion. This is why both companies are so trusted in their respected fields today and they are still working together after so many years.
